I received a call from Bradstone Allington in May, the gentleman I spoke to was very friendly and offered me good feedback on my CV. The general criticism that I was already aware of was my lack of legal experience, the outcome of this was the WPP (work placement programme).
This programme offered me training for 4 weeks followed by 3 months of practical experience working with a solicitor, the only catch was there was a fee involved but I had the option to pay in monthly instalments, for me it seemed like a really good option.
Moving forward to now, the process was a delight!
The training process took 6 weeks to complete and the work experience in total lasted 2 months before being informed that the company wanted to offer me a perm position in the new offices they were opening up. I am ecstatic about my new job officially starting in the new year and really pleased that I took a chance with Bradstone Allington.

I recently just joined these guys and it is going well so far, I just wanted to know more about the work placement? What type of tasks did you do? I tried to look online for peoples reviews and experiences but the information was not that detailed. I’m worried I might not be prepared for the tasks given to me as I have no experience in the legal sector. Your response would be appreciated.

I’m doing the paralegal course too, I just started so I can only advise so much. The modules are The Legal System of England and Wales, Writing and proofreading, Client confidentiality, civil and commercial law. Things like that. It’s not too complicated but you do need to put the work in.
April 21, 2021 at 3:24 pm #12835Jess CardinModeratorJoleigh, what kind of stuff do you want to know? I’m doing my work experience at the moment so might be able to be of more help. So far I’ve been helping a company with their recruitment procedure and grievance policies. I send it to them and they review it for me and give it to the client. It’s been good so far.

Are they saying anything about going in for work experience? I would prefer hands-on, I understand the circumstances but just incase.
April 29, 2021 at 3:38 pm #12959Oliver ChuParticipantHi Tallulah,
I think it depends where you are based, it won’t affect the outcome of your placement. But I don’t think they will force you to go in if it is a large inconvenience to you. The team is very understanding, they will compromise with you.
May 4, 2021 at 3:27 pm #12988Steffen-JayarajaParticipantI just finished the work experience with Bradstone, it was so nice to have the opportunity to go in as well as work remotely. It doesn’t hinder your outcome. @Andrew congratulations on the placement! I wasn’t as lucky but I did enjoy my time and learnt a lot.
May 7, 2021 at 2:12 pm #13025Jeovanye WrightParticipantHi, does anyone know if we are required to pay for our travel for work placement?
June 11, 2021 at 2:42 pm #13397Sarah PratParticipantHi Jeovanye, no my one didn’t get paid for in terms of travel, but my lunch was provided for which made up for it in a way
June 11, 2021 at 2:59 pm #13398Noralee GibbonsParticipantHi all – I am currently undergoing my paralegal course, I just wondered if anyone on here has taken the exam yet. What was it like? How long was it and what were the questions like? I am just concerned as we only have one free attempt and I would like to pass.
June 11, 2021 at 3:19 pm #13401Michael MistryParticipantHi Noralee, I have finished my paralegal course. I passed my exam on the 2nd attempt. From what I recall, the exam was around 30 minutes and was multiple choice style.
June 11, 2021 at 3:30 pm #13402Noralee GibbonsParticipantAh thanks Michael! Would you say questions are easy/ moderate/ hard? Did it cover all topics? Not sure whether I need to cover all modules. Sorry for all the Q’s, tutor hasn’t replied yet and this forum is helpful.
June 11, 2021 at 3:36 pm #13403Michael MistryParticipantNo worries, questions were honestly a mixture. Just make sure you revise all topics to give you the best shot. Hope this was helpful!
July 9, 2021 at 3:42 pm #13779John OrtensenParticipantHey – does anyone know if we get to work in an actual law firm when we are forwarded for placement? I am halfway through my course and am really enjoying it. I would love to get some real-life experience but I am not sure if offices are open since the pandemic?
October 19, 2021 at 3:57 pm #14749Ivan BrowneParticipantI didn’t have the best experience with the legal work placement. They didn’t offer me a job at the end of it, I don’t know why.
