A good HR specialist should know and like to work with people, in general, but it is not a rule those who have HR function know sociology, psychology and/or business administration. It also matters that they are passionate about communication and keeping up with organizational and technological changes.

Certification courses in Human Resources are required by most companies and can teach those interested in a career in HR which are the key points in the activity:

- how the staff is managed,
- what is the timetable,
- how are the employees motivated,
- what are the legal issues,
- how performance is measured,
- with an emphasis on developing leadership skills and so on.
The ease of using Microsoft Outlook, the ability to make graphs and presentations in PowerPoint, and to use HR management software are essential for streamlining the work process in managing staff.
HR vacancies can be varied. For those who have communication skills, they can orientate themselves to the exciting jobs oriented to the training, the personnel evaluation, the organizational development. Then, for those who like the figures, they can go to the payroll activities, respectively the activity of compensations and benefits. In the last years, larger companies have introduced a new role within this department, namely a personal development counsellor pot, a coach or vocational counsellor.
To build a career in HR, the future specialist should know what his strengths are and what specialization suits him best to bring added value to the company.
